Placentia-Yorba Linda Students Enjoy Summer of Learning

From June 23 through July 24, more than 550 students pre-kindergarten through seventh grade are enjoying classes such as ”Energy of the Future,” “Making Sense of Numbers,” “Art Every Day,” ”LEGO Robotics,” and “Adventures in Digital Media.”

“Students are completely immersed. They are communicating, collaborating, showing creativity, and critically thinking,” said Summer School Enrichment Principal Michael Young. “It’s a great to see them learning while having fun.”

The classes are based around the central theme of S.T.E.A.M. subjects and taught by Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District credentialed teachers. Teachers initiated the creative titles and developed standards-based lessons that engage students’ imaginations.

Although the program is held at Lakeview Elementary in Yorba Linda, enrolled students come from across all of the district’s schools. Registration materials were made available to all pre-kindergarten through seventh grade students. Program hours are 8:00 a.m. to noon. The last day of the program is on July 24. The first day of the 2014-2015 school year is on September 2.
