Correction – Boundaries Newspaper Story

The weekly community newspapers on April 2, published a story about the high school boundaries with inaccurate information. The paper stated that the Board would consider in a future closed session whether to place the item on a future agenda.

That statement is not correct.

The Yorba Linda Star and Placentia-News Times story have corrected the online version to state:

The school board will consider potential litigation during a future closed session. (Correction: Due to a reporter's error, a previous version of this story had incorrect information about what the board will consider.)

The high school boundaries have been approved and are not being re-considered.

High School Boundaries Are Approved

After an extensive 11-month process, the Board of Education on Tuesday, February 24, 2009, approved modifications to existing high school attendance boundaries. Click here to see map.

The new high school boundaries will take effect in September 2009.

Appreciation is extended to the community, the professional demographics firm and the Boundary Advisory Team comprised of parents, principals and district staff. The team worked on the process for the past 11 months reviewing numerous scenarios and then hosting four district-wide Open House forums to share information and, most importantly, to actively listen to the public’s input regarding the proposed scenarios. More than 1,000 people attended the forums and more than 400 comments were submitted.

The Boundary Advisory Team reviewed every comment and compiled a report which was an invaluable resource. The Board of Education thoroughly considered all of the information including community feedback before arriving at this important decision.
