Regarding Proposed High School Boundaries

  1. When will the new boundaries become effective?

    September 2009

  2. What grade levels are impacted by these changes?

    The boundary modifications will affect current students in 8th and 9th grades. Students currently in 10th and 11th grades will not be affected.

  3. Will transportation eligibility change when boundary adjustments are made?

    No. Transportation will be provided according to current district policies. In most cases, student travel distance in any of the proposed scenarios will remain similar.

  4. May a student request to attend a school other than his or her school of residence?

    Yes. Students may apply for a choice transfer in order to attend a school other than their school of residence. Transfers are based on space availability in the grade level at the requested school. A choice transfer form must be completed and submitted by the published deadlines in order to be considered. The Choice Application Period is from March 2 to April 10, 2009. The late Choice Application Period is from June 15 to August 14, 2009.

  5. Will Yorba Linda High School offer similar co-curricular and athletic opportunities as other high schools in the district?

    Yes. Similar co-curricular and athletic programs will be offered. Participation at the varsity athletic level will not begin until the 2010-2011 school year.

  6. Will Yorba Linda High School offer advanced courses next year for eligible students?

    Yes. Equitable curricular course offerings will be available to students including advanced placement courses.

  7. How will the teaching staff for Yorba Linda High School be selected?

    The YLHS staff will be selected from applicants from all middle schools and high schools in the district.
