Child Welfare and Attendance is responsible for all expulsion cases that occur during the school year. The department assists the schools with the school/parent meetings, prepares all the documents necessary for the expulsion hearings, and participates in the hearings. The department is also part of the Threat Assessment team. This involves working with the schools to ascertain all incidents that occur at the school and with the students. The department handles numerous phone calls that range from custody issues to questions regarding the education code or penal code.
