The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) remains committed to providing accurate and transparent information regarding COVID-19 cases on our campuses, while also maintaining confidentiality for our students, families, and staff. As such, the district has created a COVID-19 dashboard reflecting confirmed positive cases among district students and staff on our school campuses. Positive cases will be displayed for a 10 day period. The dashboard will be updated as case counts or student enrollment/staffing numbers change, Monday through Friday. Please note, the Dashboard is not updated on weekends, non-school days, or holidays.
The dashboard also provides information about the district’s communication process, family and staff reporting requirements, information about how families and students can limit the spread of COVID-19, and links to other district resources.
Please note, the district will only communicate and provide data for confirmed COVID-19 cases. For Winter Recess, the COVID-19 Dashboard will reflect new, reported, confirmed positive cases among students and staff who were on campuses for in-person instruction prior to and after the break.
Communication Process in the Event of Positive Cases
In the event that a student or staff member is identified as a close contact to a COVID-19 positive individual, they will be contacted directly by their school principal or a staff member. Individuals may receive a letter that may include self-isolation directions and other important information.
PYLUSD COVID-19 Reporting Instructions for Families and Employees
Families of a student(s) who is suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19 must contact their school and leave detailed symptom information and date of onset. Employees who are suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19 must follow regular absence communication with school administration and SmartFind. Contact Human Resources (714-985-8410) immediately for any COVID-19 illness or symptoms so appropriate follow-up can be done. PYLUSD will maintain confidentiality throughout this process.
What Families and Employees Can Do to Limit the Spread
It is going to take a concerted effort to keep our students, families, and employees safe. In addition to health and safety measures taken on campuses and in offices, we encourage everyone to be proactive and to reinforce the importance of handwashing, physical distancing, and the use of masks to limit the spread of the COVID-19. If a member of your household tests positive for COVID-19 or is awaiting test results, please keep your student or yourself at home and notify your school/office. If your student or you (employee) have any symptoms associated with COVID-19, make sure they/you stay home and get tested if necessary.
All reported COVID-19 positive cases will need to stay home and isolate for a maximum of 10 days. All cases will be investigated by our health services team in collaboration with the Orange County Health Care Agency. Finally, students and employees should stay at home when they are sick. The district will work with students, families, and employees to maintain confidentiality.
