Performing Arts Center Construction Is Underway
The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District’s Performing Arts Center (PAC), located on the El Dorado campus, is designed as a multi-use concert hall and theatre with a house capacity of approximately 638 seats. The stage performance area will accommodate the following ensemble combinations: 125 musicians, or 70 musicians and 100 choir members, or 230 choir members.
The architectural design includes a welcoming glass lobby/foyer, stage with fly loft, audio/visual equipment, and stage support areas, such as practice room, dressing room and storage area. The district performing arts center started construction in March 2012 and reached 50 percent completion in January 2013. The exterior block is complete; the structural steel roof over the house and stage area is complete; and the roofing system has been installed. The exterior façade structural steel is installed and metal panels are being fabricated. Over the next several months work will continue in the main house, stage and backstage areas. The completion date for the project is slated for summer 2013 and a grand opening is anticipated in the fall of 2013.
The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District is nationally recognized for its visual and performing arts programs and the PAC will complement these outstanding programs.
