Noticed, Needed, Nurtured: Our Commitment to Each Child

As students make their return to full-time, in-person instruction, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) will focus on academic achievement and campus health/safety as well as providing a safe and nurturing learning environment for all. The overall wellness of students (and staff) remains a top priority. It is around that concept that our districtwide wellness campaign titled, “Noticed, Needed, Nurtured: Our Commitment to Each Child,” was established.

Our goal is to help each student adjust, reacclimate, and flourish through this campaign focused on their well-being. The district will be intentional about creating a sense of belonging among all PYLUSD students by assuring they feel noticed, needed, and nurtured on our campuses. When students have a purpose and are valued within their school community, they are more likely to contribute positively and interact with others. They are also more likely to excel both academically and socially during their time at school. More importantly, they will feel loved and respected by their teachers, staff, and administrators.

To promote this message across the district, students and staff were given a PYLUSD-colored wristband with the words “Noticed - Needed - Nurtured - PYLUSD” to remind them of this very important sentiment during the 2021-2022 school year. We also posted banners on campuses and identified safe spaces for students to reach out and connect with one another throughout the school day.

Our efforts surrounding the Noticed, Needed, Nurtured campaign serve as an addition to our comprehensive list of wellness resources and mental health professionals already available to support students, staff, and families throughout the district. Our Wellness Team will provide individual and small group counseling, parent workshops, staff development, and community resource linkage in support of all students from elementary to high school. Should our families wish to access counseling support for their children, they are encouraged to reach out to their school site.

We thank you for your support of our efforts in this area and our belief that every child deserves to feel noticed, needed, and nurtured.
