Home Language Survey

Upon enrolling your EL student in one of our schools, you will be asked to fill out a Home Language Survey. This is only required if another language is spoken in your home. After filling out the Home Language Survey at the school site, it will be determined by the school's registrar if you will need an additional appointment with our office. If needed, please call the Family Resource Center at the phone number above for an appointment.

You will need the following documents when you come in:
  • Home Language Survey
  • Parent/Guardian photo identification (A government or non-government issued Photo ID)

We will also need know the name of each school that your student attended since kindergarten. Please be prepared to provide that information when making your appointment.

Testing Procedure:

On the day of your appointment, your child will be assessed with the CELDT test. CELDT stands for the California English Language Development Test. It is used throughout our state to test a student's English language abilities in reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Expect to spend approximately two hours for testing at the Assessment Center. If your student speaks little to no English, testing could take less time. You will be given the preliminary results after scoring occurs. A copy of your student's scores will be forwarded to the appropriate school site which will be used by the school's staff for the correct classroom placement of your student.
