150th Anniversary Logo Design Contest
The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District is proud to celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2024. The district invites high school students to participate in a logo design contest to help commemorate this significant milestone and highlight the district's rich history. This contest aims to honor the pioneering spirit of those who established the Placentia School District in 1874 and paved the way for the present-day award-winning education system.

Eligibility
The contest is open to all currently enrolled high school students within the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District.

Design Requirements
- The design should incorporate the district’s full name, Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District.
- The design should reflect the district's history, growth, and commitment to educational excellence.
- Entries should incorporate three specific colors, including PYLUSD blue (HEX #002D62), gold (HEX #DEB406), and white (#FFFFFF). If alternate colors are needed in addition to the three specified previously, the design may include light blue (HEX #9DD4E7) and gray (HEX #8D9091). View the color palette here.
- The design must feature the yearspan “1874 to 2024” to signify the 150th anniversary.
- The design may incorporate verbiage such as "Celebrating 150 Years of Educational Excellence” or “150 Year Legacy of Excellence” or “Offering an Educational Advantage for 150 Years.”
- The design may incorporate the existing PYLUSD logo or elements of it, but it is not a requirement. Access the district logo here.
- The design must be original, previously unpublished, not generated by AI (artificial intelligence), and created in Adobe Illustrator or another vector software.
Submission Guidelines
All entries must be submitted digitally in high-resolution 300 dpi, print-ready formats (PDF, JPEG, or PNG). The native file must also be provided. Only one submission will be accepted per student. Entries should be submitted using the following Google Form. The Google Form (https://forms.gle/z2JGn8EMxRcnZZ1v5) must be completed in its entirety to be considered. The Google Form will request the following:
- Full Name
- High School Name
- Grade
- Student ID Number
- PYLUSD Graphic Design Teacher (If applicable)
- Contact Information (phone number and email)
- A brief description (not exceeding 100 words) explaining the inspiration behind your design

Judging Criteria
- Creativity and originality
- Effective incorporation of the specified color palette and other design elements
- Relevance to the district's history and the 150th anniversary
- Overall visual impact and aesthetics
- Clear and concise communication of the 150th anniversary

The prize for this contest includes not only the recognition of the winning designer’s outstanding artistic contribution but also the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy. The winner will receive formal recognition from the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District Board of Education, acknowledging their exceptional design as an integral part of the 150th anniversary. Additionally, the winning designer will be prominently featured as the author of the design on various written materials, such as commemorative publications and official district communications. This recognition will ensure that the winning designer’s creative work becomes an enduring symbol of the district's history and excellence, leaving a mark that will be remembered for years to come.
