Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District Names New Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources

Placentia, Calif. (January 21, 2026) – The Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) is pleased to announce the selection of Chad McGough as the new Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources. McGough's appointment comes following a formal approval by the Board of Education on Tuesday, January 20.

In this role, McGough will plan, organize, and direct a comprehensive human resources program including recruitment, selection, classification, wage and salary administration, and employee/employer relations.

“On behalf of the Board, we welcome Mr. McGough to PYLUSD,” shared Superintendent Dr. Kym LeBlanc-Esparza. “His strategic leadership, people-centered approach, and expertise in human resources, along with his commitment to supporting educators and fostering a positive culture, make him an excellent fit for this leadership role.”

McGough began his career in education in 1998 with Palm Springs Unified School District as a teacher and, more recently, served as Assistant Superintendent of Personnel Services in Menifee Union School District. Throughout his 28-year career, he has held numerous impactful roles across Southern California and Illinois, including teacher, instructional specialist, assistant principal, principal, and interim superintendent.

McGough received his master’s degree in education from California State University, San Bernardino, and his bachelor’s degree in education from Mount Marty College.

Outside of work, McGough enjoys spending time with his four children and wife Erin. McGough is looking forward to the opportunity to contribute within a unified K-12 district, where he can serve both students and staff across the full educational continuum. He will begin his new role on February 2, 2026.
