Placentia-Yorba Linda Students Take Top Spots in Orange County Spelling Bee

Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District students took three of the five top spots in the annual Orange County Spelling Bee held on Saturday, March 1. Samuel Littrell from Golden Elementary won first place. He will represent Orange County at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May in Washington, D.C. Learn About Statewide Testing Changes

Dear PYLUSD Parents:

I would like to take a moment to share with you some of the recent changes that have taken place regarding standardized testing in the state of California. For the past fifteen years, students in Grades 2 through 11 have taken the California Standards Test (CST) every spring. Beginning this year, the CSTs have been replaced with the Smarter Balanced Assessments, which align with California’s newly-established Common Core State Standards (CCSS).

With Hope Foundation is Recognized

One of our district’s highest priorities is to keep our students safe. We know that at times children are faced with challenges in their everyday lives. We make every effort to identify students who are struggling. This task is a monumental one and it could not be done without our partnership with the With Hope Foundation. The Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee that provides accountability for the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District bond funds is pleased to issue their Annual Report. The report contains a letter from the chairperson, summary of the committee’s activities, highlights of bond projects that were underway in the past year, and a budget overview.

PYLUSD is proud to share it's new Performing Arts Center with all the students of our district and the community. This beautiful 634 seat venue just opened in the Fall of 2013 and is scheduled to host performances by many of our student performance groups as well as numerous outside rental and production companies.
