New Assistant Superintendent of Personnel

In this role, he is responsible for the recruitment of the best teachers, managers and classified staff such as custodians, bus drivers and school secretaries. He is also responsible for coordinating evaluations of all employees, ensuring that all teachers are credentialed, negotiating contracts with employee bargaining units, keeping the district and schools compliant with labor laws as well as Education Code, working with other divisions to ensure financial solvency, working with schools on staffing, managing teacher substitutes and interns, providing personnel-related staff development, and advancing the district’s mission and strategic initiatives in the area of personnel.

“We are excited to have Kevin Lee join our PYLUSD team,” said Superintendent Doug Domene. “In addition to bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience, he has first-hand experience in schools.”

Lee started his career as a classroom teacher teaching middle school math, science and physical education in Ontario-Montclair. The district office quickly tapped him to serve as a teacher on special assignment of an elementary school where he led efforts in technology, academic interventions, and professional development among other projects to increase student achievement. He was then promoted to assistant principal and later principal of an elementary school that he led out of the state’s “Program Improvement” academic status. Since then he has served as the Director of Human Resources with Hemet Unified and, most recently, as the Administrative Director for Human Resources with the Corona-Norco Unified School District.

Lee started on October 2. He and his wife have three daughters who are in elementary, middle and high schools, respectively.
