A goodbye message from Dr. Domene

Dear PYLUSD Staff and Community:

The end of a school year is always a time of reflection and appreciation. This year, of course, brings me a special sense of nostalgia and gratitude as I conclude my time in the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD).

Having the opportunity to serve as superintendent of this amazing school district has been one of life's greatest gifts. Our district, as many of you know, has been my home away from home for the past 31 years, and I have treasured every moment, every memory, every step of this journey.

During my time here in PYLUSD, there has been one constant – to work alongside dedicated, inspirational individuals, individuals of character and compassion, individuals who believe in a common "why," individuals who understand the importance of "Every Student, Every Day," individuals who gladly and freely do whatever it takes to prepare students for life.

This extraordinary commitment that each of you make is an inspiration and a tribute to your professional and personal excellence. I have been inspired and blessed as a result.

G. K. Chesterton once described education as, "Simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another." It is difficult to overestimate the importance and the honor of playing a role in that great legacy.

I look forward to seeing this amazing educational community continue to grow, equipping students in extraordinary ways. It has been exciting, humbling and gratifying to have been a part of this important work.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart,

Doug Domene, Ed.D.
