Application Process for F-1 visa Students
Thank you for your interest in the PYLUSD International Student Program. The following information outlines the application process to study at one of our four award-winning high schools.
Step 1: To be considered for acceptance, students must submit the International Student Application, which can be found on the International Student Program main webpage.
Step 2: After initial review of the application, students will be contacted to submit the following:
- Copy of passport
- Copy of transcript
- Copy of immunization records, translated into English
- Letter of recommendation from a current teacher or administrator on school letterhead or school email address
- English proficiency test score (see English Language Proficiency Requirements tab)
- Proof of funds
Step 3: After all documents have been received, students will be contacted to schedule an online interview via Zoom.
Step 4: Once accepted into the PYLUSD International Student Program, students will receive an acceptance letter, a tuition invoice, and payment instructions.
Step 5 (New VISA Applicants): After tuition has been paid in full, the PYLUSD will issue a Form I-20. The Form I-20 is needed to apply for the F-1 Student visa at the American Embassy in the student's home country. Once the Form I-20 has been received, pay the I-901 fee at www.fmjfee.com/i901fee/. The fee must be paid before making an appointment with the U.S. Embassy.
Step 5 (Transferring Students): After tuition has been paid in full, submit a copy of the current Form I-20 and F-1 visa page of your passport. The PYLUSD will initiate an I-20 transfer request to your previous school.
Step 6: After obtaining the F-1 visa, please complete the following requirements:
- Email a copy of the student visa page in your passport to [email protected]
- Schedule your travel dates. Students may arrive in the U.S. up to 30 days before the start of the semester.
- Complete the online registration for the high school you will be attending, including a Caregiver's Authorization Affidavit.
