The students in PYLUSD's International Student Program live in homestay arrangements. In a homestay, students can observe, learn and experience a new lifestyle and culture, while practicing English skills in a home environment. Students are immersed in the daily experience of living with a host family. Homestay hosts involve their guests in day-to-day activities and often introduce the students to their relatives, friends and neighbors. Homestay hosts also include their international student guests in social gatherings such as summertime barbecues, holiday celebrations, or trips to local tourist attractions. There are local agencies that work with our international students and their families to arrange for a homestay. The homestay fee is not included as part of the tuition that PYLUSD collects. You can expect to pay $800- $1200 a month for a private or shared room, meals and transportation. The majority of our international students live with a family that have children attending the same school.
