English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)

WHAT IS ELAC?
Every school in our district that has 21 or more English Learners is required to form an English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). As the name states, the ELAC is an advisory committee comprised of parents/guardians, school staff, and/or community members.  The role of the ELAC is to advise the principal and school staff on programs and services for English Learners.  This includes giving input or advice to the School Site Council about the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), a plan which outlines how the school will spend its money to best meet the needs of its students.

MEETINGS
Each school determines the schedule for its ELAC meetings.  Meetings are open to anyone.  If you would like to know more about your school's ELAC and/or when the next ELAC meeting will be held, please contact your school office.
