August - September:
School Music Assemblies Beginning
- During the first two weeks of school, your school will have a music assembly for all their 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students to view their music options
- Students will then enroll in their chosen class online
Parent Information Meeting for Band and Strings
- September 11, 2023 - 7:00pm
- Lakeview Elementary School: 17510 Lakeview Avenue, Yorba Linda. 92886
- Get your questions answered
- Meet your school's music teachers
- Instrument displays open at 6:00pm
Music Classes start the week of September 11.
October-December
- No special Events
- Classes building momentum and routines
- Check in with your student's music teacher with any questions
January - March
Honor Group Auditions - Band, Strings, and Vocal
- In January, 6th Grade students will have the option to audition for Honor Band, Honor Strings, or Honor Choir
- At K5 schools only, some 5th grade students may be eligible for nomination
- Rehearsals are February through March, with a concert in March
Spring Concerts
- Each school has its own concerts featuring 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students
- Concerts are on an evening in February or March
- Check your school's calendar for specifics.
April
PYLUSD Instrumental Music Area Festival
- In the last week of April, the district holds a week-long music festival involving elementary, middle, and high school
- 6th Graders from K6 schools and 5th graders from K5 schools in band and strings will participate (no vocal music)
May-June
End-Of-Year Concerts
- Each school hosts grade-specific concerts, during the school day, during students' regular music time
- Check your school's calendars for specifics
Instrument Collection and Cleaning
- School instruments and supplies are re-collected in June for summer cleaning and repairs
