RETIREE Benefit Information

Review the Preparing for Retirement attachment for some guidelines on your health benefits upon retirement.

NOTES:

To be eligible to continue health benefits into retirement, employees must be 55 years or older and have worked 10 consecutive years with PYLUSD.

Retirees (55-65) who decline or terminate medical coverage are not eligible to enroll in coverage in the future.

All eligible employees who choose to enroll in retirement benefits will be transitioned to a retirement plan on the 1st day of the month following the last contracted day of work. (Example: If the last day of work is June 13, benefits will transition on July 1).

When a benefit-eligible 65+ employee retires, or a benefited retiree reaches age 65, they may choose to enroll in a SISC 65+ medical plan. The application for these plans must be received by Risk no later than 45 days before the start of Medicare coverage. It is mandatory that proof of Medicare A & B coverage be submitted along with the application. For an application and more information, contact Viveka Rodriguez in the Risk Management Department at 714-985-8476.
